Lake Forest Railfanning

Lake Forest Railfanning
Recorded 8/16/16

Today, A-Train4014 Productions joins Andrew Sonkin at Lake Forest train station for some more railfanning. Yes, I’m still not ready to say goodbye to my home away from home. But it was still a fun day to watch trains once more at Lake Forest. Highlight of the Day was once again tough decision but it’s back to one moment that stood out among the rest.

Lake Forest Railfanning

Lake Forest Railfanning
Recorded 8/14/16

After a fun filled day at the Illinois Railway Museum, I went all the way to Lake Forest due to running some errands and I decided to make stop and railfan for an hour. Kind of wasn’t anticipating railfanning at Lake Forest even though I saw lots of train equipment at the Illinois Railway Museum but luckily, I still had enough energy and patience to drive down there. Even though it wasn’t much, it was still nice to see some trains at Lake Forest before college.

Illinois Railway Museum: Day Out With Thomas

Illinois Railway Museum: Day Out With Thomas
Recorded on 8/14/16

I have a little surprise! A-Train4014 Productions has reached over 100 YouTube subscribers. As Owner and Founder, I would like to send a big thank you. To celebrate, A-Train4014 Productions heads out to Union, Illinois for the Day Out with Thomas event at the Illinois Railway Museum. It was another hot day which was hard to stay fully hydrated. I’ve been out to Union, Illinois before but it’s been awhile since I’ve been out here. It was nice seeing some familiar train equipment before going to college next week. So basically, I’m still not ready to say goodbye to railfanning. On the same day, I made an improvised trip to Lake Forest train station.

100 YOUTUBE SUBSCRIBERS!!!

A-Train4014 Productions has just reached over 100 YouTube subscribers! Owner and Founder, Andrew Mangalindan made a statement about reaching 100 subscribers.

"I'm extremely glad to announce today on Sunday night, August 14, 2016 that A-Train4014 Productions has reached over 100 subscribers! Over a month ago, it's crazy to know that I had an inspiration to create A-Train4014 Productions on YouTube and it exceeded my expectations as I started out slowly and then new and improved equipment arrived. After chasing NKP 765, things skyrocket. The Varsity Steam Excursion videos still remains as the most viewed video on our channel. I know 100 subscribers may not be a big deal to some people but it is for me as owner and founder. I want to send a big thank you to all of my YouTube subscribers for watching A-Train4014 Production videos even though I'm saying goodbye to railfanning for a while. I also want to send a big thank you for all the well wishes as I'm about to start college. It's not an easy decision to say goodbye to a hobby I love so much but I doubt I wouldn't be able to manage it while during school. I promise to give a monthly update on social media. Again, thank you for helping A-Train4014 Productions reach over 100 subscribers and the well wishes on starting college. I hope to be railfanning someday soon again."

Lake Forest Railfanning: Farewell

Lake Forest Railfanning: Farewell
Recorded on 8/12/16

Today I say goodbye to railfanning since I will be starting college at IUPUI next week. I made one last final railfanning trip to my favorite place in the world to watch trains: Lake Forest train station. It was nothing but wet and damp but filled with fun and unexpected surprises. It rained but luckily I was able to stay dry. At the end of the day, I hate to say goodbye railfanning but honestly, I’m unsure if I could even continue railfanning while getting my Motorsports Engineering degree at IUPUI. As a result, I would hold off railfanning until I have time to do it again sometime in the near future. Not going to lie, it was not easy holding back the tears in my eyes as I drove away from Lake Forest train station even when I was making the video too. Keep up with our Facebook page as well as our Snapchat, Instagram, and Twitter accounts for monthly updates.

Lake Villa Railfanning

Lake Villa Railfanning
Recorded 8/9/16

I was near by Lake Villa train station so I decided to make a stop there even though I was there yesterday. I guess you can say I’m not ready to say goodbye to Lake Villa yet. Anyway, I honestly thought it wasn’t going to be action packed like yesterday but I was wrong. Right as I got there, the action picked up as CN freight trains were running pretty close to each other especially two close southbound CN manifest trains. It may be too humid for me, but it was fun to go there one last time.

Lake Villa Railfanning: One Last Time

Lake Villa Railfanning: One Last Time
Recorded 8/8/16

I recently announced that the week of August 8-12 will be my last railfanning week. First stop was Lake Villa train station. After school, I’d take a little time away from schoolwork and watch trains here for a while and then head home to do my homework. Today, I made one more final trip there. It was a calm and breezy day. Action packed especially toward the afternoon. I’m gonna miss Lake Villa train station and hope to be back there soon since it was close to home. It's been real, Lake Villa. Thanks for being part of some great memories.

Owner/Founder of A-Train4014 Productions Says Goodbye

On the week of August 8-12, Owner and Founder of A-Train4014 Productions, Andrew Mangalindan, says goodbye before heading off to college at IUPUI.

"Before starting my next chapter at IUPUI, I'm sad to announce that I'm about to say goodbye to railfanning for a while. I have to be honest that this was definitely not an easy decision. The main factor was starting college at IUPUI and unfortunately I wouldn't be able to travel back to Chicago. I'm sad that it's over but this is not the end of the line so I'm not entirely saying goodbye to the hobby I love so much. Every time I film trains, it's always fun knowing what not to expect. Railfanning in 2016 started with new video equipment and also featured so many fun and exciting trips to watch trains including meeting new friends along the way. Obviously one of the best moments has to be chasing the Nickel Plate Road 765 on Sunday, June 12, 2016 from Lake Forest to Fox Lake and back again later in the afternoon. The channel WILL NOT be taken down. It will not be active as much but I will try and give a brief update every now and then if I can through our Facebook page including on Snapchat, Twitter, and Instagram. I want to thank everyone and anyone who takes time out of their lives to watch my videos on YouTube. I love taking the time to make railfanning videos because I love trains period. One of the things I wish I could've done in the past was create A-Train4014 Productions. But to this point, I'm satisfied how far it has become. Even though I wish I started sooner, I hope I could do more but it's doubtful. We'll see how the future holds up for me. Peace out for now."

Lake Forest Railfanning

Lake Forest Railfanning
Recorded 6/22/16

I promised myself I’d make a trip to Lake Forest train station before my vacation to Freeport, Bahamas. Despite the extreme heat, it still didn’t stop me. However, I had to be very cautious with the heat though. Not sure if this will be my last trip to Lake Forest train station but since I'm going on vacation very soon, my summer break is running down to the wire. The disadvantage about railfanning today was the extreme heat. But that still didn't stop me from going. To prepare, I bought a cooler filled with lots of frozen water. I also brought extra clothes as well as some towels. Anyway, I hope this isn't my last time railfanning. I caught some good variety especially in the early part of the day. By the way, all of the video clips have been cut and won’t be longer than usual due to technical difficulties of zooming in and out feature on the iPhone camera and to try something different.
