A-Train4014 Productions concludes our Railfanning Marathon Week: Summer Edition at Lake Forest on the CP C&M Sub. This also means that we will be concluding our railfanning season this summer which was filled with many adventures such as the BNSF Racetrack, SOO Line 1003, Nickel Plate Road 765, including our Railfanning Fridays at Lake Forest. It’s been fun while it lasted. But we won’t be gone for long. We will be out trackside during our provided free time whenever we can. We will try to be out trackside during the winter season even though that is not our favorite time to film trains.

Our Railfanning Marathon Week: Summer Edition continues on to Day 4 at Rondout. The action was average as usual. We started at 11am till 4pm to get a preview what Lake Forest may have to offer for Day 5 of our Railfanning Marathon Week. Overall, another solid day of railfanning at Rondout as our Marathon Week of Railfanning is coming close to a conclusion.

We’ve finally accomplished our goals this year as we’re halfway into our Railfanning Marathon Week: Summer Edition. One of many goals this year was to make a trip to Rochelle Railroad Park or the BNSF Racetrack. It’s even better if we were able to do both this year. Today, we made it happen. The drive seemed long. Our team has been here before. However, A-Train4014 Productions didn’t exist at the time. One thing we learned when we arrived 7am, it was once a horn zoned area which turned into a no train horn zone area. It made things a bit The action wasn’t busy as we thought. By 10-11am, the action was almost dead. With the threat of storms coming as well, we couldn’t wait any longer. By 2pm, we were packing it up. Overall, it was a fun, relaxing day at Rochelle Railroad Park. The drive from our headquarters to Rochelle Railroad Park and back felt like driving to a different state like Indiana. But it is well worth the drive because it is a unique place. It is every railfan’s dream to go to a place like Rochelle Railroad Park.

A-Train4014 Productions continues our Railfanning Marathon Week: Summer Edition. For Day 2, we went to Lake Villa station on the CN Waukesha Sub. The action started off slow. By the afternoon, the train action picked up. In addition, we spotted quite a surprise on one particular Heritage Unit on the CN Waukesha Sub. Andrew Gray and Sam Foster (SamLovesTrains) joins us as we enjoy the action the CN Waukesha Sub at Lake Villa station.

Day 1 of our Railfanning Marathon Week: Summer Edition. A-Train4014 Productions heads to Grayslake on the Fox Lake Sub to see our friend, Jeff Meehan. However, he was switched to a different train today. However, we did see him on the Inbound Metra train coming out of Fox Lake as Train 2111 pulls into the siding. Day 2 of our Railfanning Marathon Week: Summer Edition continues at Lake Villa on the CN Waukesha Sub.

After chasing SOO Line 1003, A-Train4014 Productions immediately switches locations as we head straight to the Illinois Railway Museum for Diesel Days. Tim Parrott, Andrew Gray, Sam Foster (SamLovesTrains), Greg Silverman (Amtrak Fan 90368), James Keats Jr (Metra 109 Productions), Carter, Luke, Mark and Paul Ciechelski (AmtrakFan221) join us for a fun filled parade of diesels. In addition, we got a cab ride in the Nebraska Zephyr. Our very own, Andrew Mangalindan represented us as he got a chance to blow the horn twice. By the end of the day, we were getting exhausted after getting up early for our chase. Overall, it was another great day of seeing trains.

SOO Line 1003 in Chicago (Recap)

A-Train4014 Productions was out trackside all weekend long as we capture SOO Line 1003 arriving Chicago to the fundraiser event in Galewood. In this video, SOO Line 1003 is caught at Lake Forest, IL on Friday, August 11 as it followed Metra Train 2136. It briefly makes a stop for a crew change. On Saturday, August 12, we head out to Galewood station for the fundraiser event for children in need in Chicago hospitals. Finally, we topped it off with a chase from Lake Forest, IL to Fox Lake, IL as she heads home to Hartford, Wisconsin. In addition, we got one last video footage of SOO Line 1003 in Richmond, IL before heading off to Illinois Railway Museum for Diesel Days. Thanks to the Steam

Chasing SOO Line 1003



Chasing SOO Line 1003

Today marks the final day we will see SOO Line 1003 in Chicago as she makes her way home to Hartford, Wisconsin. Based on its top speed and overhearing that it will be holding at Rondout for a while, we decided to head straight to Fox Lake, IL. After a few bumps in the road and being stuck in traffic, we managed to get ahead of the locomotive. In addition, we headed to Richmond, IL where we barely had enough time to set up our camera equipment. Overall, it was great seeing another steam locomotive in our area as our Railfanning Summer Season comes to a close very soon. Thanks to Steam Locomotive Heritage Association for making the event possible. It was a blast seeing SOO Line 1003 for three straight days and we had no regrets as most of us had 4-5 hours of sleep for the past three days.

After seeing SOO Line 1003 yesterday at Lake Forest, A-Train4014 Productions takes another step further. Ben (TwigyBNSF), Aaron Gonzales (BNSF Fan 7695), Mark and Paul Ciechelski (AmtrakFan221), and Neil M, joins us as we witnessed SOO Line 1003 making an appearance at Galewood for a fundraising event publicity. The fundraising event lasted from 2pm to 5pm for children in Chicago hospitals featuring SOO Line 1003. The 103 year old steam locomotive attracted quite a crowd. In addition, we caught a few other trains before the main event showed up. Overall, it was a great event. Day 2 of SOO Line 1003 is in the books. Day 3 will be our final time we see SOO Line 1003 as it heads back home to Hartford, Wisconsin.

A-Train4014 Productions heads out to Lake Forest station for our Railfanning Fridays. The action on the CP C&M Sub still didn’t disappoint today. But today’s session made it really special. David Dupuis joins us in this special railfanning session as we witnessed an awe, goosebumping, speechless moment in our lives as SOO Line 1003 travels down the CP C&M Sub in the afternoon. We were in for a treat. Not only we get to see the locomotive, it sat in Lake Forest for enough time for the crew to capture great photos and videos of the locomotive. Ironically, the train before SOO Line 1003 showed up included Metra MP36PH 417, which saved us from chasing Nickel Plate Road 765 last year. History has repeated itself. During some of the video, you may hear camera clicks. We used a digital camera to witness this special occasion. This railfanning session is one we will never forget. Thank you to everyone for all the updates along the way. Our weekend with SOO Line 1003 is just getting started as we head out to Galewood for the fundraiser event where the locomotive will make an appearance.
