Lake Forest Railfanning

A-Train4014 Productions heads to Lake Forest before our trip with the Nickel Plate Road 765 on The Joliet Rocket hosted by the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society. The day at Lake Forest started with rain. However, the weather cleared up before lunch hour which was great. In addition, the heat came out and warmed up real easy. We saw a good variety of trains today. Believe it or not, Highlight of the Day was a VERY DIFFICULT decision based on the trains that we caught that day. But there was one train that stood out from the crowd. We’re very excited for our trip to Joliet on Sunday, June 18, 2017 as we’re riding behind the 765. Stay tuned!

A-Train4014 Productions has been hard at work creating a special documentary series called Behind the Camera. Owner/Founder, Andrew Mangalindan will be on the hot seat where secrets will be revealed. As part of our debut of making this documentary series, our first documentary video will be about The Varsity Steam Excursion led by Nickel Plate Road 765 on Sunday, June 12, 2016. Ironically, we decided to release this installment of Behind the Camera on the one year anniversary on the day that we successfully chased the 765 through our area. Enjoy our first installment of our documentary series, Behind the Camera. If this goes well by popular demand, we will do more documentaries if we have more ideas. We’re open to ideas. A-Train4014 Productions returns to Franklin Park Railroad Days event. Unfortunately, the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society didn’t bring the Nickel Plate Road 765. However, the crew still had a great time. We met many of our friends like Andrew Sonkin (NorthbrookRailfanner2K17), David Dupuis (TheBoeingRailroader), Miles Jajich, Andrew Heraver, and Greg Silverman (Amtrak Fan 90368). Even though there was no steam locomotive on the rail equipment lineup, it still was a fun time.

The A-Train4014 Productions team heads to Lake Forest station as a private event as we met up to do some discussions on video projects and upcoming events in the next couple of months during the summer. The weather played out nicely as it was mostly sunny for most of the day. Even though it was a little bit hot, at least we didn’t have to wear more than one layer of clothing. Metra and Amtrak trains dominated throughout the day especially from the time we arrived at 6am till around 11am is when the freight trains showed up. While we were there, our discussions were upcoming video projects and events that includes a trip to Franklin Park, the following day and doing a special documentary coming up very soon. Finally, we finished off our list of discussions with the Joliet Rocket. Owner/Founder, Andrew Mangalindan and Vice President, Branden Phillips will be riding while Research & Developer, Casey Walker will be chasing. We’re very excited to be doing Franklin Park Railroad Days and The Joliet Rocket later this month. Stay tuned!

It's Railfanning Friday! A-Train4014 Productions is excited for the summer season as we have many projects on our plate to work on this year. We decided to take a break from our video projects and decided to go trackside. Mother Nature gave us a beautiful sunny, warm day at Lake Forest. It was cold in the morning but eventually started warming up after the morning rush hour. Believe it or not, Highlight of the Day was difficult to pick. But this highlight took us by surprise.

After see our friend, Jeff Meehan at Grayslake station, we made a stop at Antioch station since we were running some errands around Antioch so we figured we film trains for a little bit. In addition, we met up with our friend, Rob Dargan before he heads to Chicago for his inbound run.

A-Train4014 Productions makes another short visit at Grayslake to talk with our friend, Jeff Meehan. The weather was beautiful as we embraced the wonderful weather that Mother Nature has planned. We had a wonderful conversation with each other which is always a nice thing. As always, things turned out pretty good at Grayslake.

Wadsworth Railfanning

We weren't really planning on heading out to trackside today. But after hearing that Amtrak 8 had a BNSF in the lead, it was an interesting sight to see. The crew immediately rushed to Wadsworth so we would get set up. While waiting, we caught a few rail traffic but it wasn’t much as the Amtrak Hiawatha trains dominated the whole day at Wadsworth. Even though a slight shower came through and almost got our equipment wet, we still stayed long enough that Amtrak 8 showed up just around 4:30PM CT.
