The Secrets of Chasing a Steam Locomotive

Created on 9/21/18

This was a fan suggested video as some wonder what it’s like
for our crew to be chasing steam locomotives for the past three
years. Listen to the secrets of what it’s like for Andrew Mangalindan
and his crew to go out trackside for the past three years of witnessing
steam locomotives running excursions on the mainline. Here is a half-hour
one on one interview with Owner/Founder, Andrew Mangalindan to tell the
secrets of chasing a steam locomotive what it means to him. Please note
that we DO NOT want to take responsibility for giving the wrong information.
This video is just meant to share advice and tips on chasing a steam locomotive
safely and successfully. We’re not done with our “Steamy September” as we will
conclude our month of September with a music video. So don’t miss out! Also,
today is Andrew Mangalindan’s birthday so we decided to publish this video on his
birthday to celebrate. Make sure to wish Andrew a very happy birthday by liking,
commenting, and sharing. Happy Birthday, Andrew!

LaGrange Railfanning: Birthday Bash

Recorded on 9/22/18

A-Train4014 Productions hosts its second annual Birthday Bash to
celebrate Andrew Mangalindan’s birthday a little bit early since his
actual birthday is on Wednesday, September 26. But we have three
more videos coming up as we conclude “Steamy September” that
featured Nickel Plate Road 765 on “The Joliet Rocket” and the
Milwaukee Road 261 on “The Gourmet Express”. Our original plan
for the Birthday Bash was to return to Lake Forest, IL. But Andrew
had a feeling LaGrange should be the new location for the Birthday
Bash so we moved to LaGrange, IL to give it a shot. After being in
LaGrange from 6am to 5pm, Andrew has made the right move.
While we were out trackside, the action remained consistent as
trains kept showing up every 30 minutes. Overall, we were very
busy out trackside and it was a solid day. It may not feel like summer
but at least we’re not wearing winter clothes yet. We hope you enjoy
this presentation of LaGrange Railfanning: Birthday Bash in honor of
Andrew’s upcoming birthday. Wish him a happy birthday either in the
comments or wait until this upcoming Wednesday on our Facebook page.

Illinois Railway Museum: The Showcase

Recorded on 9/15/18

A-Train4014 Productions returns to the Illinois Railway Museum for the
last time this year. The museum has scheduled a special birthday ceremony
for the Frisco 1630 steam locomotive as it celebrates 100 years old. So the
IRM Steam Team scheduled the locomotive to blow out the birthday candles.
Unfortunately, the 1630 suffered an overcharging issue which resulted the
ceremony to be pushed to the evening and we were unable to stay for the
celebration due to our upcoming trip to the Metra Rock Island District for
“The Joliet Rocket” event featuring Nickel Plate Road 765. Overall, we had
a fun time but we were limited to filming due to parts of the museum property
had a lot of mosquitos after the amount of moisture was present at the museum.
It wasn’t what we expected but at least this will make up the Labor Day Weekend
event when the museum was flooded that weekend. Enjoy our video from the
Illinois Railway Museum!

Nickel Plate Road 765: The Joliet Rocket

Recorded on 9/15/18

The Nickel Plate Road 765 steam locomotive has returned to the Chicagoland area
for the second annual event: “The Joliet Rocket” hosted by Metra and the Fort Wayne
Railroad Historical Society. So the A-Train4014 Productions crew heads out to the
Metra Rock Island District to see the Sunday trips starting from Joliet, IL where
Nickel Plate Road 765 pulls the train into LaSalle Street Station in Chicago, IL.
So we went to Blue Island and Mokena for the first run. Then we went to New
Lenox and returned to Mokena for the final run of The Joliet Rocket. Overall,
it was another fun day out trackside capturing videos and photos of the train.
Especially because our crew members: David Dupuis and Aaron Gonzales
finally get the chance to see Nickel Plate Road 765. Even though this video
is only about 6 minutes, it would’ve been a bit longer if we went on Saturday
to see the excursion as well but we were busy at the Illinois Railway Museum
for The Showcase event. Enjoy our video of Nickel Plate Road 765 leading
“The Joliet Rocket”!

Milwaukee Road 261: The Gourmet Express

A-Train4014 Productions has officially kicked off our first annual
Steamy September with a bang by secretly giving hints on our
Snapchat and Facebook page. If you haven’t figured out already,
one of the events in our Steamy September involves a big surprise.
Even though we were supposed to be at the Illinois Railway Museum
last weekend, but due to flooding, trains were never operate at the
Museum till later in the afternoon. Plus, our very own, Andrew
Mangalindan was suffering a summer cold along with a sore throat at
the time. So what better way to kick off Steamy September with a surprise:
Milwaukee Road 261 running The Gourmet Express from Minneapolis, MN
to Glencoe, MN. Milwaukee Road 261 is a steam engine that is on our Top
5 Favorite Steam Locomotives and we finally have an opportunity to see it
in action even though we’ve been praying that it would make another run to
Chicago someday. Now that it is 2018, we decided take a leap of faith and
decided to see Milwaukee Road 261 near at its home for The Gourmet Express
to help raise money for Positive Train Control (PTC). While we were there,
we traveled to the state of Minnesota on Friday, September 7 and arrived
there at the steam shops in Minneapolis within enough time and with enough
sunlight during sunset to see Milwaukee Road 261 before seeing it operate on
the Saturday afternoon trip. On Saturday, we started off at the steam shop where
261 is getting prepared for the trip. We would eventually get set up near the
Mississippi River as the starting point of our chase. We also made stops at Eden
Prairie, Dahlgren, and Bongards before seeing the train reach its final destination
in Glencoe and then eventually being pulled back by Twin Cities and Western
diesel locomotive 2015. Overall, it was a fantastic trip to remember and we will
love to see the Milwaukee Road 261 again soon. We would like to send a special
thanks to the Friends of the 261, Twin Cities and Western Railroad, and for all of
those who were involved in making this excursion possible. We had a blast and
we hope you enjoy this special presentation of the Milwaukee Road 261: The
Gourmet Express!

Lake Forest Railfanning

Recorded on 8/31/18

It’s been a while since we’ve made a trip out trackside. In fact, it’s
been a very long time since we’ve been trackside at Lake Forest, IL
on the CP C&M Subdivision. But the previous attempts weren’t a
success due to inclement weather. Luckily, the weather conditions
weren’t showers and thunderstorms. We had sunny conditions for
most of the day before the clouds came rolling through during the
last couple hours. While we were there, the action wasn’t the best.
The commuter trains dominated while only a total of three freight trains
were able to come through. There was a lot of flooding up north so that
might be the reason of only a couple freight trains going through. But you
know what they say, it’s better than nothing. Overall, it wasn’t our best day
out there but at least we still found another “Highlight of the Day” and that’s
all it matters. This marked the last video for the month of August as we’re gonna
be very busy throughout the month of September. So make sure you stay tuned
to our YouTube channel as well as our Instagram and Facebook accounts for
exclusive footage including a hint of our special surprise for the month of September.
Enjoy your video from Lake Forest, IL on the CP C&M Subdivision.

A Steamy September Sneak Peek

Created on 8/29/18

We apologize in advance for not being active for posting train videos on
our channel lately. The reason is simple: Planning a Steamy September.
A Steamy September will be our biggest challenge yet as it will be our
busiest month of filming out trackside featuring steam locomotives. In fact,
we squeezed in one big surprise that we can’t wait to share. Make sure to
stay tuned to our Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat for the big surprise.
We created a last minute movie trailer for what’s in store for this upcoming
September. First off, we will be at the Illinois Railway Museum for the Labor
Day Weekend as the museum celebrates the creation of Frisco 1630. We will
also be out trackside on the Metra Rock Island District for The Joliet Rocket.
We will also bring back the Birthday Bash event but with a little twist. Instead
of holding the Birthday Bash at Lake Forest, IL This year, we decided to change
it up by going to a new location which will be revealed on our Instagram account
as well. Overall, we can’t wait to share our next few train videos. You will NOT
regret it. Stay tuned to our YouTube channel throughout the month of September!

Iowa Interstate 6988: Mitchellville Steam Engine Experience

Recorded on 8/18/18

A-Train4014 Productions makes a special surprise visit to Mitchellville, Iowa
for the running of Iowa Interstate 6988 steam locomotive during the first ever
Mitchellville Steam Engine Experience hosted by the Mitchellville Fire
Department. While we were there, we met up with close colleague,
Elijah Jackson (Baltic 144 Productions) for a little bit. We were mildly
fascinated by the Iowa Interstate 6988 steam locomotive that was built in
China in 1988. Iowa Interstate 6988 is a QJ type steam locomotive used in
China Railways. We also decided to make this visit worth it because there is
a very questionable future for Iowa Interstate 6988 as its due into its FRA
mandated inspection so it is very unlikely that the locomotive will not run for
a while. Overall, we had a fantastic day out trackside getting photos and the
best videos that we can to share on YouTube. Our very own, Andrew Mangalindan
quoted “I can’t wait to share this amazing experience. I promise you will not regret
watching it so I would recommend having a snack with you.” We want to send a
special thank you to the Mitchellville Fire Department for making this event possible.
We also want to send special thanks to the steam crew of Iowa Interstate for
working hard and giving us a memorable experience that we will never forget.
