Due to the outstanding weather, A-Train4014 Productions goes railfanning at Lake Forest station for some fun and to enjoy the nice weather on a warm Saturday afternoon. Andrew Gray joins the team and witnessed some afternoon rail action. There were some tough nominees for Highlight of the Day but there was one moment in time that made it. Believe it or not, Highlight of the Day is NOT featuring another hornshow.

In an unexpected heads up from Seth Reynolds (Sethamtrak), A-Train4014 Productions goes railfanning in attempt to catch Amtrak Empire Builder 7 which has a Private Coach at the end of the train. Unfortunately, I was in the middle of eating lunch at home when I recieved the message. So instead of going to Rondout or Lake Forest, the crew heads to the closest stretch of railroad tracks on the CP C&M Subdivision in Wadsworth, IL which is another horn zone area. Look for future railfanning videos from Wadsworth. A big shoutout to Sethy Reynolds for the heads up.

After hearing that Amtrak 184 was on Empire Builder 8 yesterday, A-Train4014 Productions returns to Wadsworth to try and catch it again. Unfortunately we weren’t able to head out to Lake Forest or Rondout to catch it so we went to the closest part of the CP C&M Sub to see Amtrak 184 leading the Empire Builder 7. Luckily we also caught a few other trains too!

On a sunny and windy day, A-Train4014 Productions returns to Northbrook station to join Mark Ciechelski (AmtrakFan221), Paul Ciechelski, Andrew Gray, Andrew Sonkin, and William Dube for some railfanning. It was a fun day of railfanning. Despite some equipment malfunctions, the crew managed to hang on during the strong wind gusts. With an unexpected twist, A-Train4014 Productions received the most unexpected news of all which made it as Highlight of the Day: A Norfolk Southern Heritage Unit. Shoutout to Casey Walker (CaseyBNSFTrains) for the heads up on this train. So this will be the first time in a long time that Highlight of the Day is NOT featured with a hornshow. Believe it or not, this is the first time ever that A-Train4014 Productions has caught at least one Heritage Unit on the same weekend.

A-Train4014 Productions and special guest: Andrew Gray return to Lake Forest station to continue testing out camera equipment as well as experimenting with some other railfanning equipment. Currently, we’re still in progress of testing equipment in the weeks to come. Our railfanning day went really well. In fact, railfanning at Lake Forest went really well that for the first time this year, Andrew Mangalindan had to pick the Highlight of the Day which was a difficult decision. To summarize, we surprised our railroad engineer friend, Rob Dargan and to put the icing on the cake, A-Train4014 Productions pulled off a longtime accomplishment: Catching ALL Amtrak Heritage Units!

A-Train4014 Productions goes to Lake Forest for some railfanning to take advantage of the nice weather. However, it is not what expected. The tough part was not only the wind, but the fog was frustrating early in the day. It made it difficult to when to press record and taking pictures. However, the fog did make some pictures look good. At the end of the day, we caught trains and that’s all it matters.

Our goal of 2017 is to continue railfanning… but with a little twist. The goal was to continue railfanning but it has to be at a different places other than Lake Forest or Lake Villa which is where we go frequently. A-Train4014 Productions heads to a different part of the CP C&M Sub. We headed to Northbrook station with a special guest: Andrew Grey. It was another cold and windy railfanning day. But overall, Northbrook station was different but expect more trips to Northbrook in the near future. This video is part of the 200 YouTube subscribers celebration. I made a surprise railfanning trip to Lake Forest station to practice with some different camera equipment. In fact, you can hear a digital camera go off in the background which is what I’m trying to work with. Hard to believe it, this marks the first railfanning trip to Lake Forest station. When I returned to Lake Forest, the crossing bells sounded very different. Then I realized that the railroad has replaced all three of the railroad crossing bells so the crossing bells you will hear will sound different. During my trip to Lake Forest, I unfortunately picked the wrong day to railfan since it started to get extremely windy in the afternoon to the point where I could barely hang on. Anyway, enjoy the show!
