Our whole crew poses for a team photo in front of Frisco 1630 at the Illinois Railway Museum for Memorial Day 2018. (Left to right: Branden Phillips, David Dupuis, Aaron Gonzales, Miles Jajich, Andrew Mangalindan, Casey Walker)
Our very own, Andrew Mangalindan takes a moment to put together a short video presentation using video footage from our brand new GoPro Hero5 Session on go kart races and a trip to St. Augustine during his vacation in Jacksonville with his family. Unfortunately, there are no trains or railfanning involved, but keep watching till the very end for a funny moment during Andrew’s trip to St. Augustine at the Fountain of Youth.
Happy Holidays from all of us at A-Train4014 Productions! As part of the holiday season, Owner/Founder, Andrew Mangalindan runs some N Scale model trains around the N Scale layout in the A-Train4014 Productions Headquarters before everyone took off for vacation. We’re looking forward to another fantastic railfanning season in 2018 as we hope to make more new memories and adventures. Stay tuned for our Best and Worst Moments of 2017 video as we put together our best train videos along with some railfanning bloopers. Happy Holidays!
Our 2017 Railfanning Season has come to a close in Naperville, IL as Andrew Mangalindan and Casey Walker headed out trackside to film trains. The action was pretty slow throughout the day but in the end, we had a great time as we filmed trains one last time in 2017. Believe it or not, there is NO Highlight of the Day in this adventure. This is definitely a breakthrough season and we’re looking forward to our next adventure in 2018. Thanks to those for being part of the fun this year catching some of the most unique trains this year. Stay tuned later this month for a N Scale Trains: Christmas Edition and The Best and Worst Moments of 2017. Happy Holidays from all of us at A-Train4014 Productions!

After making a stop in LaGrange Road Metra station, Andrew Mangalindan and Casey Walker headed to the Illinois Railway Museum to see the Chicago & North Western F7A 411 operate a Christmas Train on the museum property. While we’re there, we also looked around the property, looking for some vintage rail equipment as well. Overall, it was a fun day on the Illinois Railway Museum property catching footage of the Christmas Train.
Andrew Mangalindan and Casey Walker were out trackside on the BNSF Chicago Subdivision in LaGrange Road Metra station prior to our trip to the Illinois Railway Museum for the Happy Holiday Railroad event. While we were there, we caught the usual action but there was one freight train that stood out among the rest and this became “THE MOST JAW DROPPING MOMENT” in A-Train4014 Productions history. Overall, it was a very fun day for just a short period of time before we headed out to the Illinois Railway Museum.
Our railfanning season is almost coming to end. But our last video will be a montage of some of our favorite train video clips. In addition, keep watching for some of the funny and cringy railfanning bloopers that we’ve captured this year. The full video will be posted just in time for New Years Eve. Here is a sneak peek on what you might expect later this month.
A-Train4014 Productions returns to Lake Forest train station one last time in 2017. The action started off slow during the morning rush hour as Metra trains dominated the morning like usual. Until Jeff Meehan’s Metra train 2111 came through, the action started to pick up. To summarize, this was a very brutal adventure because of the tough wind chills which made the outdoor weather very cold so it made our job a bit difficult to keep an eye on the train tracks. Overall, it was still a fun time at Lake Forest.
A-Train4014 Productions heads out to Grayslake station on Lake Street to meet with our friend, Jeff Meehan. As usual, it is just Metra trains throughout the video. Our very own, Andrew Mangalindan was on hand to have a nice conversation with Jeff. In the end, it was cold but we were able to deliver a Christmas present to Jeff just in time for the holiday season.
A-Train4014 Productions returns to Rondout to film some more trains as our railfanning season is almost coming to a close. While we were there, the Metra and Amtrak commuter trains dominated as only two CP freight trains: CP 199 and CP 281 were able to sneak through Rondout. It wasn’t a total loss as the snow made it unique for videos however it made our crew very cold. Overall, it was an average day at Rondout.
For the first time in A-Train4014 Productions history, we are catching the Metra Operation North Pole Christmas Train. Andrew Mangalindan, Casey Walker, and Miles Jajich represent A-Train4014 Productions as we get video footages of the Metra Operation North Pole in Des Plaines, IL with special guests: David Dupuis (TheBoeingRailroader) and Aaron Gonzales (BNSF fan 7695). While we were there, we started our day in Des Plaines station to film a couple Metra trains. After they passed through, we switched location to an open area where we met Drayton Blackgrove (Delay In Block Productions) where our crew was featured in Delay In Block Productions’ Facebook Live Stream which will be provided in a link below. Then the Metra Operation North Pole train does two photo runbys. Finally, it pulls into Des Plaines station to pick up the children while the engineer plays Jingle Bells on the horn. The train departs at 11:20am Central Time and heads to Pingree Road station in Crystal Lake, IL. Eventually the train headed back to Des Plaines to drop off the children so we caught it again in Mount Prospect station with Larry Amaloo (larry84988). Overall, it was an unforgettable experience for all of us and we can’t wait to do it again in the future. Special thanks to Metra, Union Pacific, police officers and firefighters of local towns involved, and Operation North Pole for putting on a fantastic show. We enjoyed every minute of this wonderful experience.
Andrew Mangalindan, Casey Walker, and Miles Jajich head over to Deerfield station on the Metra Milwaukee District North Line to catch the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train with special guests: David Dupuis (TheBoeingRailroader), Aaron Gonzales (BNSF fan 7695), and Adam Hartley (metraking192). While we were there, the rail traffic was really good. There was a train coming within the hour or so. But when the CP Holiday Train arrived, it came earlier than expected and some of us didn’t get enough time to set up our cameras to photograph or video tape. As a result, we drove up to Wadsworth with enough time to set up and get a second chance. Overall, it was a solid day. Stay tuned for video footages of the Metra Operation North Pole as well.
A-Train4014 Productions continues to achieve our main goal: Film trains from other locations. We made a trip to Elmhurst Metra station on the Union Pacific Geneva Subdivision for the first time. Our original idea was to head to Coal City, IL. But due to the amount of possible traffic we might hit, we decided to head somewhere within an hour distance from the headquarters. Metra trains dominated the morning portion of the day while the Union Pacific freight trains dominated the second half of the day. Overall, it was another fun day as Andrew Mangalindan and Casey Walker worked hard in the cold weather.
A-Train4014 Productions returns to the CP C&M Subdivision for some railfanning in Deerfield, IL. Even though it is not our favorite place to film, it never hurts to continue other places to film trains. The action was pretty slow throughout the day. In fact, the majority of trains were dominated by the Metra and Amtrak trains. Only two freights got squeezed in through a strange series of weather changes combining snow and rain, along with wind chills. Somehow, we survived. But overall, it was an average day of filming.
